DAASEBRE DWAMENALegendary Highlife Musician Daasebre Dwamena whose untimely demise occurred this morning Friday July 29, 2016, is reportedly going be buried today.

According to Daasebre’s manager who spoke on Peace FM News at 12 this afternoon, the Singer was a Muslim before he died and the religion demands that a deceased person is buried on the same day of death. He added that Daasebre’s Muslim name is Abukal Sidik.

At the time of filing this report, family of Daasebre had concluded all arrangements and his mortal remains is currently on the road from Accra to Koforidua where he lived with his family and he is expected to be buried there later today.

The contemporary High-Life music legend, Daasebre Dwamena died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra early Friday morning, a close family member disclosed to Peacefmonline.com.

The award winning artiste, according to the family, was battling with an illness (undisclosed) and was admitted at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Daasebre Gyamena stormed the music industry in the country in 1999 when he released his second and one of the most successful albums in his music career, ‘Kokooko’.

Since joining the industry about a decade ago, Daasebre Ahoofe Gyamena has won a considerable number of awards at Ghana?s most prestigious event, Ghana Music Awards at the National Theatre.

Some of them include Best Contemporary Highlife Song, Best Contemporary Album, Best Contemporary Highlife Artiste, Over All Best Album, Best Male Vocal Performance, Best Song Writer, etc.

Daasebre Gyamena, however, sad it may be, is currently languishing in London cells, awaiting trial for peddling in narcotic drugs.

He was arrested for allegedly importing 100kg of cocaine into the UK in 2006. But throughout his trial, Daasebre maintained his innocence and pleaded “not guilty” to the charges against him. True to his plea, the 12-member jury hearing his case returned a no guilty verdict on Friday May 11, 2007.
