₵50M BAIL CONDITION FOR CHAIRMAN WONTUMI IS JUST A TRAP – NPP General Secretary Slams EOCO, NDC
NPP General Secretary, Kodua Frimpong has vocally criticised the ₵50 million bail set for Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, calling it “ridiculous” and driven by political motives.
Speaking to an energised group of NPP supporters outside the EOCO headquarters, Frimpong was unreserved.
“This ₵50 million bail? It’s not justice—it’s a trap,”“They just want to keep Chairman Wontumi locked up. It’s abuse of power, plain and simple.”
Frimpong went on to accuse the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of using state institutions to target NPP leaders.
“Have you ever seen this happen before?” “We all know what’s going on. The NDC is using EOCO and the police to intimidate us. But let me remind them—power is not permanent.”
He gave a stern caution to the NDC, suggesting that any upcoming NPP government would remember how their members are currently being treated.
“If you use power to torment your opponents today, don’t complain tomorrow when the tables turn,” Frimpong said. “Even if it takes us eight years to return, we’ll remember this. We’ll do to you what you’re doing to us now.”
