In a deeply saddening twist of fate, 10-year-old Lisa Laryea, who had been fighting stage 4 acute myeloid leukaemia, has tragically died.
Lisa’s situation attracted considerable public interest, prompting a heartfelt intervention from Ghanaian entrepreneur and philanthropist, Ibrahim Mahama.
Touched by her situation, Mr. Mahama kindly paid the more than $110,000 expense for Lisa’s medical care.
He took it upon himself to arrange for Lisa and her mother to be flown to South Africa on November 24, 2024, using an emergency-chartered air ambulance for specialized medical treatment.
In spite of the cutting-edge medical treatments and the constant encouragement from her loved ones and supporters, Lisa’s health declined, resulting in her premature death.
Her death has created a shadow of grief across the nation, with numerous individuals conveying their sympathies and contemplating the delicacy of existence.
Mr. Mahama’s gesture of compassion offered a ray of hope for Lisa and her family in a difficult period. His dedication to humanitarian causes continues to motivate many, even as the country grieves Lisa’s passing.
We extend our sympathies to Lisa’s family.
