11 FOREIGNERS ARRESTED IN TUBA FOR COUNTERFEIT MONEY PRINTING – GIS
Immigration Service raids residential apartment; seizes fake dollars, printers, and cyber fraud equipment in intelligence-led operation.

The Weija Sector Command of the Ghana Immigration Service has arrested 11 foreign nationals allegedly involved in counterfeit money printing and cyber fraud activities at a residential apartment in Tuba, Accra.
In a press release dated January 7, the GIS confirmed that the suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Cyber Fraud Taskforce Unit on January 5, 2026.
Items seized during the raid included laptops, routers, mobile phones, fake US dollar notes, and tabletop printers and photocopier machines. The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
The Immigration Service commended public cooperation while urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious foreign national activities to law enforcement agencies. The statement specifically cautioned landlords and property owners to exercise due diligence when renting to foreigners, noting that harboring illegal immigrants constitutes an offense under Section 52(1)(b) of the Immigration Act 2000, Act 573.
“The Comptroller General of Immigration and Management of the Service remain committed to protecting the territorial integrity of the country and ensuring compliance with Immigration Laws at all times,” the statement assured.
