15-YEAR-OLD BOY DIES AFTER BEING KNOCKED DOWN DURING NIGHT FLOAT IN TAKORADI
Teenager fatally injured after vehicle with brake failure rams into float crowd; driver assaulted and vehicle vandalized by angry youth.

A 15-year-old basic school pupil, Emmanuel Quansah, has died after being knocked down by a vehicle during a night float in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
According to Assembly Member for Mempeasem, Gabriel Mensah, the teenager had reportedly run away from home on Saturday after a domestic dispute and later joined a float group from Mpintsim around 11:30 PM at Ngyiresia.
Tragedy struck at the Essipong Stadium junction when a KIA vehicle with registration number GW-4592-18, traveling from Secko Junction, reportedly suffered brake failure and crashed into the crowd, knocking down three individuals including Emmanuel.
The victims were initially taken to St. Benedict Hospital at Inchaban before being referred to Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital on Sunday evening. Emmanuel succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Tuesday, January 6.
The driver was reportedly arrested by float participants, assaulted, and had his vehicle vandalized before being handed over to police. He has since been granted bail to seek medical treatment as investigations continue.
Assembly Member Mensah noted that the float procession lacked police escort, potentially contributing to the tragic incident.
