Former National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku, has urged Ghanaians to vote for the NPP in the 2024 elections to ensure continuity and progress. Speaking at the party’s final rally in Legon, Accra, Awuku emphasized that the upcoming elections are a battle between hope and despair, dismissing former President John Mahama’s initiatives as minor and uninspiring.
“These elections are about hope, not hopelessness, and should not be reduced to small policies like John Mahama’s ‘nkoko-kitiki,’” Awuku remarked, referencing a term he used to criticize Mahama’s proposals.
Awuku further stressed that this is not the time to experiment with second chances but rather an opportunity to build on the foundation laid by the NPP. He highlighted the party’s major achievements, including the Kufour administration’s free maternal healthcare policy, which allowed many women to access safe deliveries, and the current Free Senior High School (SHS) program, which has provided education to children of those same families.
“The NPP has consistently implemented impactful policies, and Dr. Bawumia will take these successes even further,” he added, expressing confidence in the party’s presidential candidate for 2024.
The rally marked the conclusion of Dr. Bawumia’s Bold Solutions campaign, which has seen the NPP promote their track record and future plans across the country. Awuku called on voters to reject what he described as the “hopelessness” of Mahama’s leadership and embrace the NPP’s vision for sustained progress.
