2026 WORLD CUP: ‘IT WILL BE A TRAGIC MISTAKE’ TO SACK OTTO ADDO — Felix Kwakye Ofosu

Minister in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, opines that the calls for Otto Addo’s termination are “unfortunate,” and has also said that it would be a “tragic mistake” if it occurred before the 2026 World Cup.
To qualify for the World Cup, Otto led the squad to five victories in their last six qualifying matches.
The 50-year-old, who led the senior national team to back-to-back World Cup qualifying for the 2022 tournament, is the first Ghanaian to do so.
But after missing out on a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in December, questions remain over his capacity to guide the squad on the international scene.
“I believe that these calls are a little bit unfortunate and are misplaced,” Felix said on the floor of Parliament.
“The man who has guided us to this qualification in stellar fashion is best placed to prepare the team for the competition itself.”
“It will be a tragic mistake to dismiss the coach and hire a new person who will have very little time to prepare the team.”
Ghana FA President Kurt Okraku has already publicly declared Otto Addo as the coach to lead the nation to the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, slated for June next year.
