24-HOUR ECONOMY: INTERIOR MINISTER PRESENTS 60 PICKUPS, 20 MOTORBIKES TO POLICE TO PROVIDE SECURITY
On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka gave the Ghana Police Service 20 motorcycles and 60 pickup trucks to aid in security operations as part of the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.
It is anticipated that the vehicles, which were locally constructed by Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, will enhance the Police Service’s ability to offer security around-the-clock, particularly for companies and employees who operate past regular business hours.
Mr. Mubarak announced the creation of a new specialized unit inside the Police Service in a post on his Facebook page.
He stated that the unit will be in charge of security operations related to the round-the-clock economy.
He wrote: “I announced the creation of a specialised unit within the Ghana Police Service, dedicated to providing round-the-clock security for workers and businesses operating within the 24-hour economy initiative.”
According to Mr. Mubarak, the donation was a component of broader initiatives to encourage local production and enhance police logistics.
He went on to say that Zonda Tec provided the vehicles as part of the government’s initiative to assist Ghanaian businesses.
Mr. Mubarak praised Zonda Tec for assembling the cars locally while touring the company’s manufacturing facility.
Additionally, he said that the Ministry of the Interior was working to digitize the process of issuing quotas and work licenses.
He claims that the procedure aims to cut down on delays and streamline corporate operations.
