25 AGONA SWEDRU SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL FINAL-YEAR STUDENTS SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY OVER SAME-SEX PROPOSAL FIGHT

Agona Swedru Senior High School final-year students have been punished indefinitely for allegedly participating in a violent incident that resulted from a proposal of a same-sex proposal.
The incident allegedly started when a male student made a romantic relationship proposal to another male student, who turned it down, according to school officials.
According to the report, the student who turned down the proposal told his peers, who allegedly encouraged him to accept it and expose the other student to shame.
A group of students, who were thought to be friends of the student being proposed to, ambushed and violently attacked the proposer on the day of the scheduled meeting.
The assaulted student allegedly rallied his fellow pupils to respond after the initial attack, which resulted in a full-fledged fight involving several kids.
“These students will write their final exams under the escort of their parents,” Mrs Andam noted, adding that the Ghana Education Service (GES) does not tolerate breaches of its code of conduct.
The school took severe disciplinary measures as a result of the worsening circumstances. The headmistress, Mrs. Golda Esi Andam, told Onua News that all 25 students received a fair hearing prior to the suspension being implemented.
She went on to say that the students’ entitlement to an education is unaffected even when they are receiving discipline.
In order to prevent such occurrences in the future, Mrs. Andam took the opportunity to strongly advise students to follow the rules and regulations of the school.
