4 CAR SNATCHERS SENTENCED TO 120 YEARS IN PRISON BY ASOKWA DISTRICT COURT

Four carjackers have been sentenced by the Asokwa Circuit Court One in Kumasi to 120 years in prison, with each criminal serving a 30-year sentence.

Jeffrey Jomoh, also known as Jeff, who is 22 years old; Clifford Opoku, also known as Spider, who is 28 years old; along with Prince Opuni and Kwabena Kyei Baffour, were found guilty of a number of robberies in Kumasi.

Prior to their detention in 2022, they conducted an armed robbery and carjacking in Kyirikrom, located in the Ashanti region.

ASP Stephen Ofori stated that the criminals had committed various crimes before they were caught, as per the police prosecutor.

“When they snatch the car, they hand it over to one of the accused persons who has also been convicted Kwabena Kyei Baffour who sells the car in Accra,” he said.

In February 2023, they made their initial court appearance and faced charges of conspiring to commit robbery, which goes against the law.

His Worship Frederick Obikyere presided over the court proceedings and convicted all four individuals in three robbery cases, subsequently sentencing them.

The police prosecutor believes this should discourage individuals from attempting such robberies.

Mr. Kwabena Appiah, who had his car stolen at gunpoint, was pleased with the resulting punishment.

“From there I filed a report to the police for them to commence investigation and finally processed them to court for this final ruling,” he said.
