MUSICIANS WANT TO BE PAID TO PERFORM AT EBONY’S TRIBUTE CONCERT

Manager of the deceased dancehall diva Ebony Reigns, Ricky Nana Agyemang, known in showbiz as Bullet of Ruff N Smooth has described musicians in Ghana as hypocrites who want money for Ebony’s tribute concert.

In a Facebook post, the Chief Executive Officer of Rufftown Records stated because there were so many people at Ebony’s one week observation and it was telecast live on Television, the musicians came there in their numbers, used the platform to interact with the late musicians funs but now that he is organizing a tribute concert for his late artiste, they are demanding money.

“Some of our Ghanaian artistes are very hypocrite, you came to Ebony’s one week observation because the numbers were there and again it was being telecast live on air so some of you came there to use the platform. Now you’re asking me to pay you for her tribute concert. I thought you loved her as you claimed on stage at her one week. This is pure hypocrisy. Big thanx to every artistes who has decided to support us. We are grateful” the post read further.

Ruff Town Entertainment with collaboration with the Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and other entities have slated Friday, March 23, 2018, as a day that a tribute musical concert will be organised in memory of the late Ebony Reigns who died in a tragic accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi Highway.

The concert which will take place at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra is said to line up some musicians in the industry to perform in honour of the late songstress who contributed immensely to the progress of the Ghana music industry.

Some of the artistes billed for the tribute concert are Becca, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, VIP, R2Bees, Edem, Shatta Wale, Kofi Kinaata and Efya, Samini, Kwabena Kwabena, Nana Yaa, Obour, MzVee, Teephlow, Tic Tac, Barima Sidney among others.

Ebony Reigns, born Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, met her untimely death in a car accident on Thursday, February 8, 2018, together with two others; Francisca Kuri, her childhood friend, and Francis Atsu Vondee a military officer believed to be her bodyguard.

They were returning to Accra from Abesim, near Sunyani in the Brong-Ahafo Region, where they had gone to pay a visit to Ebony’s mother.

The final funeral rites and burial service will be held on March 24 at the forecourt of the State House in Accra where Dr Lawrence Tetteh, the leader founder and leader of the World Miracle Outreach, will officiate burial service.
