Ghanaian singer, songwriter and music producer, Akwaboah has registered his displeasure over the comments Dancehall musician, Shatta Wale made about the Highlife genre a few weeks ago.
You would recall that after Shatta Wale returned from his USA trip, he addressed his fans and music lovers in Ghana giving them updates about his trip and the state of the music industry.
In the address, Shatta Wale stated that he met up with some Hollywood business men, who wanted to know the identity of Ghana Music, which he couldn’t point out. Going forward to say, Ghana should have one genre of music to identify us.
Reacting to this statement by Charles Nii Mensah, Akwaboah told ace broadcaster, Abeiku Santana that he felt disrespected because, the Highlife music he does is the original representation of Ghanaian music, hence saying that, he and other high life gurus feel disrespected by Shatta Wale’s statement.
