Most decorated Ghanaian artiste, Sarkodie has bitterly lamented over how Ghanaians don’t support their own and help their artistes to grow.
Sarkodie for the first time admitted that the biggest thing to have happened to Ghana as far as the music industry is concerned in the past 10 years is the collaboration between Shatta Wale and American music superstar, Beyonce.
According to him, Shatta Wale’s feature on Beyonce’s ‘The Lion King’ album is monumental yet Ghanaians did not support it but brushed it off as if it is no achievement as he claimed that Ghanaians could have maximised the collaboration to make a mark in the international market but it was not so because of the pull him down attitude among Ghanaians.
He told stories of how Nigerians choose to highlight and project only positive images of their entertainers in the media and bash them in private but its vice versa in Ghana and he urged Ghanaians to appreciate the achievements of our artists.
He said;
‘What is bigger than what shattawalegh did with Beyonce? We just want to let that slide? Why? Let’s appreciate the achievements of our artistes’.
‘I had to work 100x harder to get recognized in Nigeria. No matter how hard you work, Nigerians wouldn’t put you ahead of their artistes’.
