DADDY LUMBA’S FAMILY DENIES REPORTS OF JOINT WIDOWHOOD RITES FOR AKOSUA SERWAA AND ODO BRONI
The family issues a strong rebuttal against "false and misleading" media claims, stating only the legally recognized widow will perform rites pending a High Court ruling.

The family of late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba has officially denied circulating reports that his legal wife, Akosua Serwaa, and Priscilla Ofori Atta (Odo Broni) have agreed to perform joint widowhood rites during the musician’s funeral.
In a statement dated October 26, 2025, the family described the claims as “false, misleading, and without any factual or legal basis,” referencing specifically a broadcast by Akwasi Aboagye on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review.
The clarification follows a family meeting held on October 24 at Asawasehenefie in Kumasi, chaired by Nana Osei Kwame Kyeretwie, Nkosuohene of Asanteman. During the gathering, Odo Broni’s representatives were asked to provide legal proof of marriage but could not produce a marriage certificate or any documented evidence.
“The family of the late Mr Fosuh, led by Mrs Akosua Serwah Fosuh and Ms Ernestina Fosuh, firmly objected, stating that no individual can assume the role of a widow or perform widowhood rites without a valid marriage recognised by law,” the statement emphasized.
Nana Osei Kwame Kyeretwie ruled that, in the absence of legal documentation, Akosua Serwaa remains the only recognized lawful widow, though the final decision rests with the Kumasi High Court, where the case is pending.
Akosua Serwaa had earlier filed a suit on October 2 challenging actions that sought to undermine her status as Daddy Lumba’s lawful wife. The case has been adjourned to October 28.
The family has urged the public and media to disregard unfounded claims, reaffirming that the court’s upcoming ruling will provide the definitive resolution to the matter.
