President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo has stated that he will not exceed his two-term limit as Head of State.
President Akufo-Addo urged fellow sub-regional leaders to make similar pledges in an address to the Kofi Annan Peace and Security Forum on Wednesday, December 8, 2021
“As president of the Republic of Ghana and current chair of the ECOWAS governance authority, I pledge to continue to respect the tenets of the ECOWAS protocol on democracy and good governance.
“I will not make or cause any significant changes to electoral laws in the final six months before the next election. I will adhere to the two-term limit for the exercise of Presidential authority enshrined in the Republic of Ghana’s constitution,” he solemnly declared.
On records, Akufo Addo is a Ghanaian politician who has served as the president of Ghana since 7 January 2017. In 2020, he was re-elected for his second term, which will end on January 6, 2024.
