Asamoah Gyan has swallowed the humble pie as he apologizes to the Ghana Football Association for his comment on the black Stars’ player selection.
Yesterday, the Black Stars squad to face Nigeria in the World Cup playoff was finally released by coach Otto Addo and many were not impressed with the inclusion and exclusion of some players they deemed were the best to be handed a call-up.
Asamoah Gyan who wasn’t so happy with the selection and also the exclusion of Majeed Ashimeru mentioned in a tweet that his omission from the Black Stars squad was nonsense.
According to Asamoah Gyan, Majeed is currently the best Ghanaian midfielder after Thomas Partey hence he should have been given a slot to play in the match against Nigeria.
“Majeed Ashimeru is the best midfielder in Ghana after Thomas Partey period. I have kept quiet on this but this nonsense must stop”.
After numerous backlash from the media, Asamoah Gyan has finally apologized for the comment he made but, however, insisted the commission of Majeed still baffles him.
In another tweet, Asamoah Gyan apologized for using such a harsh word in his comment but also maintained his opinion that the Anderlecht midfielder should have been part of the team to play against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Asamoah Gyan tweeted; “I still insist that Ashimeru deserves to be in this current Black Stars BUT am sorry for using the word “Nonsense” in my statement so I unreservedly withdraw that word, I was carried by my emotions. Go Ghana”.
