MARWAKO EAST LEGON TO START OPERATING FOLLOWING CLEARANCE BY FDA

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has given the go-ahead for Marwako Fast Foods’ East Legon location to reopen after its plant was forced to close due to food contamination a few weeks ago.

The FDA expressed satisfaction with the work made in putting the different corrective preventative activities necessary after the facility’s shutdown in a statement included in this recent update.

“Following the verification inspection of your facility at East Legon to ascertain the level of implementation of corrective prevention actions (CAPA), the Food and Drugs Authority writes to inform you that it is satisfied with the progress made in the implementation of the CAPA to forestall any future food poisoning incident.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) hereby lifts the suspension of catering services places on your facility at East Legon,” the letter to Marwako from the FDA said.

Following the admittance of approximately 70 patients to Nyaho Clinic in Accra in May 2022, Ghanaians dragged the well-known restaurant over an alleged food poisoning.

The unifying theme running across all of the complaints made by the restaurant’s angry patrons is that they suddenly fell ill after eating at Marwako last week.

One Edward Elohim, who was also poisoned, had written the original message that set off the rant.
