Award-winning singer, Gyakie has refuted a previous claim made by the Global Citizen Festival’s organizers that no musicians were paid for their performances that evening.
Gyakie claimed that everyone in attendance that day was using her skill, and she received full payment.
The CEO of Big Ideas Consult stated on Monday that since the Global Citizens Festival was a charity event, no performer received payment to attend.
On the other hand, Gyakie revealed to Giovani on the 3FM Drive on Tuesday that the event’s organizers had met all monetary requirements for her to perform.
“Yes, everybody that was on the stage was obviously paid. The dancers, the choristers, the band. Everybody.”
In response to her fee, Gyakie continued, “Yes. (full amount?) Absolutely. Every single person was paid.”
Her statement refutes Kojo Poku of Big Ideas’ widely circulated assertion that the show’s emphasis is on charity.
Kojo Poku asserts that no performer that day received payment for their time spent on stage.
