GHANA TOURISM AUTHORITY SETTLES KIRANI AYAT OVER COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT

Musician Kirani Ayat has said that he and his team have resolved the copyright infringement issue with the Ghana Tourism Authority.

On Monday, October 31, 2022, the ‘Guda’ singer finally addressed the public about his long-running spat with the Ghana Tourism Authority: he released a joint press statement on his Twitter account.

The visual leftovers from Mr. Ayat Maqwam, alias Kirani Ayat’s “Guda” film were utilized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) without his permission, which he learned about on September 27, 2022.

Since 2019, these images have been heavily used by GTA in the creation of different tourism-related items, the organization claims.

We’re relieved to report that the parties have settled their dispute amicably.

Going ahead, Ayat and GTA want to work together on a variety of initiatives with the common goal of exposing Ghana, our stunning natural resources, and our dynamic human potential to the rest of the globe.

Ayat is grateful to everyone in Ghana who has shown their support. The release of his new album, Aisha’s Sun, has been announced.

On Twitter, Kirani Ayat criticized the Ghana Tourism Authority for utilizing images from his song “Guda” without permission in a promotional film for the country’s president.

Kirani Ayat, who was unhappy to see his work used without permission, said that he had invested money into developing the movie without anybody else’s help and that he had not been rewarded for its usage.

Some people claimed that parts of the new tourist promotional movie were stolen, however, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) denied this.

The Authority said in a news release that the video Kirani Ayat claims to possess was legally licensed from a production company in 2019.
