Maverick Ghanaian politician Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of the nation’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that the party’s base is bitterly opposed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government.
In an interview with Okay FM, Kwame Baffoe-Abronye DC, who goes by the name Kwame Baffoe in real life, said that those who were appointed but haven’t been loyal to the party are still in prominent positions in governmental institutions without providing the foot troops with opportunity.
If those at the grassroots level continue to be sidelined, he thinks this trend would be the NPP’s downfall in the 2024 elections.
“… the party’s foot soldiers, regional executives, founding members, patrons, all of them are not happy with some of the decisions taken by the appointing authorities, the president and co.
“The foot soldiers are angry. If from now to 2024 we don’t resolve issues, things will collapse before we realise it and if things collapse, we are all going to go.
“… the foot soldiers always determine whether the NPP wins an election or not. And if you check critically all the elections the NPP has lost were due to the foot soldiers deciding not to vote,” he during the interview conducted recently.
He continued by saying that the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-recent Addo’s hooting at the enemy strongholds gave validity to his concerns.
