DIAMOND APPIAH GRANTED GH₵300K BAIL OVER FRAUDULENT LAND TRANSACTION

At the Circuit Court in Accra, self-described entrepreneur Diamond Appiah was detained and accused of engaging in a $30 000 fraudulent land transaction.

Diamond Appiah allegedly sold socialite Ayisha Modi a plot of land in East Legon Hills for $30,000, but she denied the allegations and was released on GHc300k bond after entering a not guilty plea.

As part of the bail conditions, the court presided over by Her Honour Mrs. Evelyn Asamoah ordered her to present three sureties, each of whom must be a public employee.

Brief about case

DSP Evans Kesse told the court that Complainant Ayisha Modi is a Businesswoman and lives at Adjiringanor, Accra. She has dragged businesswoman Diamond Appiah of East Legon to court. According to the Prosecutor DSP Kesse, the complainant, Ayisha Modi disclosed she needed a plot of land in 2020 for building purposes and discussed it with one Johnson, a witness in this case.

The accused offered to sell a piece of land at East Legon Hills to the complainant at a cheaper price. The Prosecutor said the accused collected cash, the sum of US3$30,000.00 from the complainant for the land.

DSP Kesse said the accused took the complainant to a land at East Legon Hills and when the complainant later went to the land, she met one Gustav who claimed ownership of the land.

The Prosecutor said, the complainant made several attempts to retrieve her money from the accused person but she failed and made a report to the Police, and the accused was arrested.

“In her investigation cautioned statement, she admitted the offence. After investigation, she was charged with the offence and brought before this Honourable Court,” the Prosecutor told the court.

The case has been adjourned to February 8, 2023.
