The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s decision to prohibit the operation of the commercial tricycles known as “Pragyia” in the central business district has drawn harsh criticism from Ghanaian media personalityBridget Otoo.
On August 1st, 2023, the new directive—which was established as a means of reducing traffic and human congestion in the central business district—began to be put into effect. Dozens of tricycles were seized, and some drivers were detained.
As a result of the incident, the drivers went on the rampage, forcibly reclaiming their impounded automobiles, and blocking roadways to vent their wrath.
The presenter claimed on her Twitter (now X) account that the tricycle ban was reckless and that the drivers are not breaking the law.
She charged that they weren’t doing enough to support the operators.
The tricycle ban is one of the most senseless things that KMA has done.
These guys are working, not stealing or doing robbery! They found a job where you failed to provide one for them.
Yet you ban them for causing traffic, ban your incompetence for not thinking!— Bee (@Bridget_Otoo) August 10, 2023
