JASIKAN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION STUDENTS LAMENT OVER RAW ‘KOOKO’ WITHOUT, SUGAR, MILK

The Oti region’s Jasikan College of Education students have voiced their intense displeasure with the daily food supplies they receive in terms of both quality and quantity.

The school administration’s habit of giving the pupils plain porridge without necessary accompaniments like sugar, milk, and bread has been brought up by the students in their complaints about the subpar meals they have been receiving.

Students organized a protest to call attention to the poor food in response. Unfortunately, there were fights between the police and the protesting students.

The President of the Student’s Representative Council (SRC), Freeman Zokha, expressed their complaints on the Citi FM program Eyewitness News.

He disclosed that GH 51, or a portion of their monthly allowances, was being used to supplement the designated feeding subsidies. The children contend that they believe the feeding grants have been paid, despite the school administration’s declaration to the contrary.

The problem of the lights being turned off in the women’s dorms was also brought up during the protest, which wasn’t just about the quality of the meals. Zokha stressed the difficulties the students are having and expressed opposition to the idea of fully discontinuing their food services.

The students’ protest underlines the crucial role that wholesome meals play in their overall wellbeing, and their demands highlight the significance of adequate facilities and care in educational institutions.
