The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has made a commitment to restore the Ashanti kingdom to its rightful place.
During an address regarding chieftaincy issues at the Manhyia Palace, he expressed his concern that the Ashanti Kingdom is not where it should be because some of his chiefs are motivated by money.
He noted that the love for the Ashanti Kingdom is waning, and materialism is causing damage.
“Our love for money is destroying things. People don’t have love for Ashanti again… We have to remember the Asanteman we used to have and rise.
“Tweneboa Koduah sacrificed himself at Kumawu for Asanteman, (sic) also buried in the afternoon… A lot of people sacrificed themselves for Asanteman. What are we doing today,” he said in Twi.
Otumfuo vowed to take significant steps to ensure that the Ashanti Kingdom regains its former glory.
He emphasized that he will remove sub-chiefs who are not working in the best interests of the Ashanti Kingdom, with the aim of revitalizing the kingdom.
