CONTROVERSIES SURROUNDING LUMBA’S FUNERAL DAMAGING HIS REPUTATION – Vida Adutwumwaa

Showbiz Pundit Warns That Public Feuds Are Tarnishing Legacy and Could Cost Family Government Support

Prominent showbiz analyst Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng has voiced deep concern that the persistent public disputes surrounding the funeral of Highlife legend Daddy Lumba are severely damaging the late musician’s esteemed reputation and legacy.

Speaking during a panel discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, November 1, 2025, Vida lamented how the focus has shifted from mourning the iconic singer to engaging in public squabbles over his funeral arrangements.

“Why won’t we explore the issue for the family to come together? Daddy Lumba has been on everyone’s lips for weeks. The solemnity is gone because of the controversies,” she stated, highlighting the loss of dignity in the process.

Vida expressed particular distress over the unrestrained comments from family members, which she believes are exacerbating the situation. “Due to the ongoing controversy, the family members who are known for speaking in public just talk anyhow whenever they’re given the microphone,” she observed. “What bothers me the most is the legacy that Daddy Lumba left behind. Now, there’s nothing protecting it.”

The analyst also pointed to a cascade of negative effects, including a flood of careless remarks from outsiders on social media. “People who don’t know where he’s from and how he achieved everything go live on social media and just speak anyhow about him,” she added.

In a significant warning, Vida cautioned that the visible disunity could deter potential government assistance for the funeral. “Even if the government wants to help with the funeral arrangements, now they won’t because who amongst the family are they going to meet with and discuss the plans?” she questioned, underscoring the practical consequences of the infighting.

Issuing a heartfelt plea, Vida Adutwumwaa urged the family elders to intervene and consider the long-term perception of their actions. She called for an end to the public feuds, arguing that the current path only leads to reputational harm.

“All these are damaging his reputation and that of his family,” she concluded. “Now, when someone mentions Lumba or his family, what will be the perception of people in Ghana? That’s what I want them to focus on. Everything should end, and if we are to hear something about him again, it should be about the funeral preparation so that Lumba can also rest in peace.”
