I WASN’T READY, I DIDN’T THINK IT WOULD GO FAR – Lord Paper On Nvde Music Video

Ghanaian musician Michael Takyi-Frimpong, aka Lord Paper, has acknowledged that the attention he received from the contentious music video for his song “Ewurama” caught him off guard.

You would recall that the song’s music video, which featured an explicit sex scene, was released in 2016 for the then-up-and-coming Lord Paper?

The music video caused a stir across the nation, with many people disapproving of the path it took.

The music video caused a stir around the nation when it was released, but Lord Paper remained unfazed, defending his artistic decision and saying it had given him the result he had envisioned.

A few years later, Lord Paper bemoaned being shunned by his fellow industry professionals because of the music video.

According to adomonline.com, Lord Paper stated on “Showtym with Andy Dosty” that he had not made the most of the media spotlight the song had given him because, at the time, he was a novice and hadn’t anticipated the song’s success.

He additionally stated that he had no one to depend on and had no idea how to turn the consideration the song had given him.

“I was very young, and we shared ideas, and it was one of those days… and I didn’t think it would go that far. I wasn’t ready for the industry. I didn’t have a team, and people don’t like you when you are not on a team. I had no idea about the industry… if it were today, I would have turned it into something positive,” Lord Paper said.

He continued saying that the song was a blessing for him, giving him the opportunity to collaborate with several A-list celebrities. But because of its contentious nature, other Ghanaians and celebs also decided to cut ties with him.

“Initially, they didn’t understand it. But now, a lot of artistes are connecting with me. Before, I was sidelined, musicians were not even talking to me. I went to radio stations and some sacked me,” he added.

When he looks back, Lord Paper says he can see how much he has learned and matured in the music industry, and he is prepared to use his past experiences to open up new doors in the times to come.
