The Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, has commissioned 124 homes as part of the Appiatse reconstruction project.
This campaign was a reaction to the catastrophic events that occurred in January 2022, which left the village devastated and resulted in the deaths of sixteen individuals.
All project participants who had benefited from phases one and two expressed gratitude and expressed pleasure with the final result.
Nestled between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region, Appiatse has undergone a metamorphosis following the aftermath of a tragedy.
Two years after the accident, a major milestone has been reached with the completion of over 120 dwelling units, providing the farming community with new optimism and a fresh start.
The entire town was destroyed when a vehicle transporting around 10 tons of mining explosives to the Chirano Mines collided with a motorcycle in January 2022.
Following the sad event, the government started rebuilding right once, and as a result, 124 housing units and auxiliary facilities for the survivors have been completed.
The recently constructed buildings have improved amenities such as inner roadways, a market, six-unit classrooms and kindergarten blocks, water and electricity, a drainage system, and a water storage system. The units range in size from one to seven bedrooms.
