I HAVE NO INTEREST IN COMPOSING POLITICAL SONGS FOR ANY PARTY – Nana Acheampong

Veteran Ghanaian musician, Nana Acheampong has firmly declared that he will never create a campaign song for any political party.

He clarified that his choice arose from a desire to stay impartial and prevent any negative reaction from followers of competing political factions that might result from supporting one party over another in his music.

He said this on ‘Atuu’ with Abeiku Santana in response to a question about whether he would consider a path similar to that of his former Lumba Brothers partner, Daddy Lumba, who is known for the hit ‘Nana Y3 Winner’ in support of the NPP.

Nana Acheampong replied, saying, “He [Lumba] is his own person, and I am my own person. I haven’t, and honestly, I don’t want to go in that direction.”

Nana Acheampong made remarks as the nation prepares for the December 2024 general elections.

While some famous people have publicly supported a specific political party, others have chosen to remain neutral in political discussions to prevent controversy and safeguard their image.

“I don’t want to show interest in that side or involve myself in politics. I can do it, but I want to avoid a situation where I do a song for one party, and supporters of the opposing party suddenly have a problem with me. That is why I made such a decision,” he said
