TGMA 2024: KIDI WINNING ‘BEST COLLABORATION SONG’ DIDN’T MAKE SENSE TO ME – Mr. Drew

Ghanaian artist Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, known as Mr Drew in music circles, recently expressed his disappointment at not winning the Collaboration of the Year award at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) ceremony on June 1, 2024.

In an interview on 3music TV, the singer behind the hit “This Year” voiced his dismay over the outcome. Mr. Drew believed he deserved the award over eventual winner KiDi because his song “Case” was, in his view, the standout track in that category.

I was really disappointed about not winning the award. ‘Case’ was the biggest and most impactful song in that category. Collaborating with an artist who was relatively unknown at the time and seeing the song become such a huge success, changing both of our lives—that’s the kind of impact collaborations should have, isn’t it? It just didn’t make sense to me.” he said.

Despite feeling that the decision was illogical, Mr Drew emphasized that he harbours no ill will toward KiDi for winning the award ahead of him.
