I WILL NOT ENDORSE ANY POLITICAL PARTY EVEN FOR $1M BECAUSE OF STIGMA – Kofi Kinaata

Ghanaian musician, Kofi Kinaata, has indicated that he would turn down an invitation to support a political party, even if he was offered $1 million.

In his opinion, artists who decide to align with a political party in Ghana face a very unfriendly political climate.

As per graphic.com.gh, Kofi Kinaata mentioned on Nhyira FM that he is willing to perform at political events if invited, but will not create campaign songs for them.

When asked if he would agree to a $1 million offer, Kofi Kinaata expressed worries about how his reputation could be affected by accepting such an endorsement.

He observed that technicians and DJs are respected as professionals at political rallies, whereas musicians are stigmatized for their involvement.

“It is actually not bad, but now Ghanaians do not understand. They need to understand that the stage that is being used for rallies was constructed by carpenters, electricians, and even DJs who play at the rallies perform their duties not because they are necessarily party members but because they are doing their work.

“But it is always a different case if a musician decides to entertain his fans; they start stigmatizing us,” he said.

He pointed out that technicians and DJs are regarded as professionals at political rallies, while musicians often encounter stigma for their involvement.

“Perhaps, if the stigmatization stops, we can make songs for political parties. Also, political tensions are high so it’s better to stay neutral. God should select a winner and after the elections, we will all come together to support the person,” he said.
