The President of the Fetish Priests Association of Ghana, Kwaku Bonsam, has revealed intentions to organize a countrywide demonstration to tackle the growing issue of illegal mining, also referred to as galamsey.
The organization showed serious worry about the depletion of the nation’s natural resources, especially water sources and forests, due to these illicit actions.
During an interview on Kasapa FM, Kwaku Bonsam expressed that the level of environmental damage from galamsey has become unbearable. He observed that the group, with more than 2,000 members from all over Ghana, is committed to taking strong measures to protect the country’s natural resources.
Kwaku Bonsam pointed out the serious consequences of illegal mining, such as water bodies contamination, fertile lands destruction, and the increasing environmental crisis endangering future generations. The Fetish Priests Association is preparing for both a peaceful protest and a spiritual response to address individuals engaged in galamsey.
He cautioned that after two weeks of the demonstration, there would be outcomes, such as “mysterious curses and fatalities,” aimed at the individuals accountable for the environmental destruction.
This statement is made while the country is still discussing the problem of galamsey, with many parties pushing for stricter actions to stop the activity.
