Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the leading figure of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stressed the importance of streamlining the passport application procedure in Ghana.
During his campaign in the Nkwanta North constituency, he declared that his administration would simplify the process by using Ghana Card information as the main basis for passport requests.
Despite criticism for not adequately addressing pressing economic challenges, Dr. Bawumia continues to champion Ghana’s digitalization agenda, for which he is well-known.
He thinks that the advancement of digital technology is closely tied to Ghana’s overall development objectives.
In his campaign stop at Nkwanta North in the Oti Region on Monday, October 28, Dr Bawumia emphasized the benefits of digital advancements in enhancing the lives of Ghanaians, particularly mentioning that streamlining the passport application procedure through digitization could greatly cut down on administrative obstacles.
“What we will then do is to make people submit their Ghana Card and pay the fees, it will be simple, you will not fill any forms from 2025.”
