BAWUMIA DECLARES DR. MOHAMMED AMIN ADAM AS FUTURE FINANCE MINISTER

Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced that Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Member of Parliament for Karaga and current Finance Minister, will retain his position if he wins the 2024 presidential election.

Dr. Bawumia praised Dr. Amin Adam’s competence and performance, describing him as one of the best Finance Ministers Ghana has ever had. Speaking on Tolon Radio during his tour of the Northern Region, he explained his decision to keep Dr. Amin Adam in the Finance Ministry, emphasizing it was based on merit rather than regional affiliation.

“He is one of the best Finance Ministers we have had in the country. I am going to retain him when I become President, not because he is from the north but because he is competent and has proven his capabilities,” Dr. Bawumia stated.

The Vice President also used the platform to appeal to voters to support his bid for the presidency, arguing that his track record as Vice President makes him the best candidate to lead Ghana. He contrasted his leadership with that of former President John Dramani Mahama, stating that Mahama had already been given the chance to govern but failed to resolve the country’s challenges.

“When you vote for me, I will work for you for 8 years, but Mahama will work for only 4 years. I have initiated 33 policies as Vice President, but when you ask Mahama, he cannot mention even one policy he initiated as Vice President. I am the best choice to continue the good works of the NPP,” Dr. Bawumia added.

He highlighted the positive impact of NPP government policies across the country, urging Ghanaians to vote massively for the party to “break the 8” and continue with their transformation agenda.

The declaration has sparked conversations across political circles, with supporters of the NPP viewing it as a strategic move to highlight the achievements of the current administration while outlining a clear plan for continuity. Meanwhile, opposition parties have dismissed the claims, arguing that the NPP’s policies have not adequately addressed the challenges facing Ghanaians.

As the December 7 elections draw closer, Dr. Bawumia’s pledge to retain Dr. Amin Adam signals his intent to maintain stability in the Finance Ministry while leveraging experienced leadership to push his vision for Ghana forward.
