On December 2, 2024, the Electoral Commission (EC) launched the national Special Voting event.
This enabled media personnel, election authorities, and security personnel to vote prior to the general election on December 7.
As a result of a ballot recall, the event in the Western and Eastern Regions, initially planned for 328 centres, has been moved to Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Regardless, although the voting process went smoothly at the centers, there were problems at Ayawaso West Wuguon Constituency.
John Dumelo, the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ayawaso West Wuogon, criticized his opponent Lydia Alhassan, the incumbent member of parliament for the area, for distributing food to voters during today’s special voting exercise.
He claimed that he could be harsher if he desired and gave a serious caution to Lydia Alhassan.
In response to this, Lydia Alhassan stated in an interview on UTV that there was nothing inappropriate about providing food to voters who were in need of nourishment and hydration.
