The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced plans to provide regular media updates on Election Day, December 7, 2024, to ensure transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
In a press release issued on December 4, 2024, and signed by Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman of Operations, the Commission stated that the media briefings are aimed at keeping the public informed on the progress of the elections. Accredited media personnel with valid passes for the National Collation Centre have been invited to cover these sessions.
The first media briefing will be held at 9:00 AM, followed by subsequent updates at 12:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 6:00 PM. From 9:00 PM, additional briefings will be conducted as results are received from various regions across the country. Each session is expected to last no more than 30 minutes.
The EC emphasized that these briefings will not only provide election updates but will also serve as a platform to address any reports or stories emerging from polling stations nationwide. The Commission urged the media and the public to verify all election-related reports with its office to prevent the dissemination of unverified information.
As part of its commitment to a credible and peaceful election, the Commission assured the public of its dedication to fairness, transparency, and professionalism throughout the process.
