The Electoral Commission (EC) has chosen to allow all media outlets entry to the national election results collation centre, overturning a previous decision to restrict media coverage.
During a press conference, EC Chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa highlighted the commission’s commitment to maintaining transparency, responsiveness, and inclusivity during the electoral process. She assured the public that this decision demonstrates the EC’s dedication to delivering precise and prompt information to all parties involved during the election results collation.
The national collation centre is anticipated to give frequent updates on the status of the results collation, leading to the official announcement of Ghana’s next president and parliamentary representatives.
“Today, the commission has accredited 10,000 journalists to cover all aspects of the election process. This will provide the citizenry with timely, verified information and inject the needed transparency into all stages of our work,” the chairperson stated.
