BAWUMIA URGES NPP MEMBERS TO UNITE AND REBUILD FOR 2028 VICTORY

In the wake of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections, Vice President and former presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has rallied party members, urging them to focus on unity and rebuilding for a strong comeback in 2028.

Speaking to the party’s diasporan branch at his official residence in Accra, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the challenges that contributed to the loss, including the absence of key supporters who abstained from voting due to unresolved internal issues.

“Our core members stayed home because they had issues, so we have to look at unity. Unity is key for us, and that is very important,” he emphasized.

Dr. Bawumia stressed the need for a thorough evaluation of the party’s current state and called for necessary reforms to strengthen the NPP’s foundation. “Whatever we need to change, we have to change. We have to regroup, staying united,” he urged.

He also addressed the need to put an end to the blame game within the party, which he said only fuels division. “The blame game doesn’t bring unity. We have to take collective responsibility and focus on our shared goals,” he noted.

Looking ahead to the next general election, Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence in the NPP’s ability to recover and secure victory. “I believe that we are going to beat the NDC in 2028. Everything that needs to be changed as part of our rebuilding has to be done,” he declared.

Encouraging party members to remain optimistic and supportive, he added, “Don’t be downhearted. We have work to do, and we need your support as we go forward in the next few years.”

Dr. Bawumia’s rallying call marks a critical moment for the NPP as it begins the process of regrouping and strategizing for a brighter political future.
