THERE ARE A LOT THINGS I HAVEN’T DONE BECAUSE OF MY MOM – Black Sherif

Despite his widespread fame and recognition, Ghanaian rapper and singer Black Sherif, popularly known as Blacko, still faces an unexpected personal issue—his mother has not entirely accepted his ascent to stardom.

Black Sherif’s rise to fame has been truly remarkable, with tracks like Kwaku the Traveller launching him into worldwide acclaim.

However, beneath the successful music emerges a mother’s worry for her son, intensified by the harsh truths of public observation.

His lyrics frequently depict personal experiences, and although they strongly resonate with fans, they sometimes evoke emotions that hit closer to home.

The young artist acknowledged that he had made specific decisions to honour his mother’s feelings.

“My mom still doesn’t know that I’m Black Sherif,” he confessed with a laugh during an interview on 3FM.

“I feel like she needs some time to really accept that this is who I am now.”

“She goes vexed sometimes. She sees things on the internet, and it worries her,”

“There are so many things I’ve not done because of my mom,”  she said.
