Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum, a prominent Ghanaian media personality, has completed her second attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual. After five days of continuous singing, she clocked in at 121 hours and 39 minutes at the Heroes’ Park within the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The marathon began on December 21st, 2024, and showcased Afua Asantewaa’s remarkable stamina and dedication to promoting Ghanaian music. She performed over 200 songs spanning various genres, including gospel, highlife, afrobeat, and hiplife.
“I am fulfilled, considering the fact that I succeeded in promoting Ghanaian songs,” Afua Asantewaa expressed after completing the marathon. She extended her gratitude to her dedicated team, acknowledging the contributions of Gladys Osei Owiredu (manager), Kofi Owusu Aduonum (husband and Head of PR), Fredrick Fosu, Kelvin Abban (Creatives), and Isaac Amponsah (Operations).
This marks Afua Asantewaa’s second attempt at breaking the world record. Her previous effort in 2023, which lasted 126 hours, fell short of the existing record of 105 hours held by India’s Sunil Waghmare. Undeterred by this setback, Afua Asantewaa persevered and once again embarked on this challenging endeavor.
In the coming days, Afua Asantewaa and her team will submit evidence of her performance to the Guinness World Records organization for review. The organization will then assess her attempt to determine if it meets the criteria for the title.
