I PROMISED ONLY 60 MINISTERS, YET 1000S OF PEOPLE HAVE SUBMITTED THEIR CVS – Mahama Shares Dilemma

President John Dramani Mahama has recognized the significant pressure and elevated expectations related to his administration’s dedication to forming a streamlined government.

Addressing the Presidential Dinner in Accra on Wednesday, January 8, Mahama emphasized the difficulty of balancing public expectations with the need for efficient governance.

“You wouldn’t want to be in my shoes when you’ve promised to appoint only 60 ministers, yet thousands of people are sending in their CVs. Then, maybe some people will be disappointed,” the President said.

He emphasized that although the magnitude of government is a crucial factor, the effectiveness of his administration relies on input from all areas of society, beyond merely ministerial positions.

The President also considered insights from the past administration, urging his government to steer clear of the mistakes that caused the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) decline in public trust.

“The success of this administration will secure us another term, perhaps under a different leader. But we must get this right so that Ghanaians can continue to have confidence in us,” he added.
