A-PLUS ALLEGES THAT A HIGH-PROFILE MINISTER FROM NPP GOVERNMENT WAS INVOLVED IN CONTRACTING ASSAILANTS TO K!LL AHMED SUALE

Kwame Asare-Obeng, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central Constituency, has delivered a firm ultimatum to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service concerning the advancement of the inquiry into the killing of journalist Ahmed Suale.

In a post on social media, the MP disclosed that he was asked to visit the CID headquarters last year to give information pertinent to the case.

In that meeting, he pointed out a prominent minister from the former government as supposedly connected to hiring attackers to commit the crime.

He revealed his source to the CID director, highlighting its reliability.

However, Mr. Asare-Obeng raised concerns regarding the absence of transparency and advancement in the investigation, emphasizing that the issue seems to have been overlooked.

He has urged the CID director to present an update to the public within 48 hours, along with reasons for any delays in the case.

He wrote;

“Last year, I was invited to the CID headquarters to provide information regarding the murder of Ahmed Suale. During the meeting, I identified a high-profile minister from the previous government who was allegedly involved in contracting assailants to carry out the crime. I also disclosed my source, a highly credible one, in the presence of the CID director.
It is critical that the CID director updates the public on the progress of the investigation and indicates with justification whether additional time is required.
At this point, it appears the matter has been sidelined. If no update is provided within 48 hours, I will invoke my authority as a Member of Parliament to formally summon the Ghana Police Service to brief Parliament on this case.
Should that fail, I will utilize my Facebook and other social media platforms to update the nation on what I know about the matter which shall include the name of the alleged perpetrator.
Thank you.”
