Ghanaian entertainment commentator, Arnold Baidoo has expressed his dissatisfaction with the recently concluded Ghana Movie Awards, especially condemning the accolades given to the recipients.
On January 25, 2025, during an appearance on UTV’s ‘United Showbiz’, Baidoo ridiculed the distinctive award plaques presented at the event’s 14th edition, which featured woven fans adorned with the Ghana flag, set on a wooden base with the recipient’s name and category embossed for clarity.
Baidoo was blunt, stating, “Papa, that we use to fan fire, come on, how?””
He emphasized that although Fred Nuamah, the CEO of the Ghana Movie Awards, warrants backing and motivation, the awards’ atypical aspects sparked worries.
“Fred needs support, encouragement, that fact cannot be disputed. If the year comes and he doesn’t get the support or funds needed to run the awards show, it’s not by force,” Baidoo remarked.
The 14th edition of the Ghana Movie Awards, held on January 18, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), celebrated excellence in cinema, attracting stars from both Ghana and Nigeria.
