Dr. Kwaku Oteng, the prominent founder of the Angel Group of Companies, has publicly addressed the swirling rumours about his personal life, clarifying that he is married to only two women. This statement comes amid widespread speculation and misinformation about the number of wives he has, with some netizens claiming he has as many as five or six.
In a candid interview on Angel FM, Dr. Oteng expressed his frustration with the false narratives surrounding him. “People say I have six wives; others say five. When did I marry all these women, and I’m not even aware of it? I am married to just two women,” he stated emphatically.
He recounted a specific incident during his mother’s funeral, where a female friend was mistakenly identified as the mother of his first daughter. “At the funeral, people said the lady sitting next to my wife was the mother of my first child. How? Others even claimed I was taking turns spraying money on several women, assuming they were my wives,” he explained.
Addressing the impact of such rumours, Dr. Oteng revealed that 98% of the stories circulating about him are untrue. “Sometimes I hear these lies, and I’m stunned. I barely respond to them because if you fight your own fight, God will not fight for you,” he said.
When asked why he believes people feel emboldened to spread falsehoods about him, he attributed it to his reserved nature. “I barely speak. It’s true that I have a lot of radio stations, but I rarely speak on air. It’s not because I can’t, but because I don’t like it. That’s why people spill lies about me, and I’m unable to defend myself,” he shared.
Dr. Oteng also called out individuals who profit from spreading misinformation about him online. “There are people who can’t even afford toothpaste to brush their teeth but will sit online and insult you. It’s painful. They use me to gain traction and make money from it,” he lamented.
The businessman has been a frequent topic of online discussions, particularly following his recent divorce from his wife, Akua Amoakowaa. He has also faced rumours about demoting his son, Samuel Acheampong, from his position as CEO of Angel Broadcasting Network to manager of Angel FM Kumasi. Additionally, he was falsely linked as the father of actress Tracey Boakye’s daughter, with some even tagging him as the mysterious “Papano” associated with her.
