Controversial Ghanaian preacher Nicholas Osei, widely known as Prophet Kumchacha, has sparked a heated debate with his bold and unconventional views on marriage. During a recent interview with Zionfelix on February 19, 2025, the founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries described marriage as a source of endless drama and pain, even suggesting that if Jesus Christ had married, it could have jeopardized his path to heaven.
“If marriage were an easy thing, Jesus Christ would have gotten married himself. If Jesus had gotten married, he might as well have missed heaven, especially if he had married a bad woman,” Kumchacha declared. “Prominent people are crying behind closed doors because of marriage.”
The outspoken prophet, known for his provocative statements, argued that marriage often leads to depression, abuse, and even death for many individuals. He lamented the challenges couples face when they are incompatible, describing marriage as a “poison” that brings more harm than good.
“Marriage comes with a lot of drama, and if we were to come back to life again, I would plead with God to make marriage a contract so people can renew it when they are happy with it. If marriage wasn’t created by God, I would have said it is useless,” he added.
Kumchacha’s comments have ignited a firestorm of reactions on social media, with many questioning his stance on an institution widely regarded as sacred. While some have criticized his remarks as extreme, others have acknowledged the challenges many couples face in modern marriages.
The preacher also highlighted the emotional toll of settling down with the wrong partner, noting that many married individuals suffer in silence. “A lot of people have died because of marriage. Because of marriage, people are going through depression and a whole lot of abuse. I see marriage as a poison. If we were to come back to life after death, I would plead with God to stop marriage itself,” he said.
