GHANA POLICE PICK UP 21-YEAR-OLD DANIEL TUFFOUR IN CONNECTION WITH DEATH OF KNUST STUDENT, JOANA DELADEM YABANI

The Ghana Police Service has detained an individual linked to the unfortunate demise of Joana Deladem Yabani, a Level 400 Biological Science student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

As per a release from the Police Public Affairs Directorate, initial inquiries showed that the 21-year-old student was discovered unresponsive behind the Central Laboratory on campus during the early hours of February 27, 2025.

Medical staff at KNUST Hospital verified her death on-site before moving her body to the hospital morgue for additional examination.

A later police investigation uncovered evident signs of violence on the body, leading to concerns of potential foul play.

After thorough investigations at the crime scene, 21-year-old Daniel Tuffour has been arrested and is now in police custody, helping with the inquiry.

The Inspector-General of Police has personally reached out to the family of the deceased to extend condolences and assure them that justice will be pursued.

Furthermore, the police are collaborating with KNUST officials to examine strategies to improve campus safety and avert comparable occurrences moving forward.

The apprehension of the suspect has ignited discussions regarding campus safety and the necessity for increased security protocols to ensure student protection.

While inquiries proceed, the police are encouraging anyone with pertinent information to step forward to aid in revealing the complete details regarding Joana Deladem Yabani’s unfortunate death.
