The government of Ghana has made an agreement with the country’s top three telecom companies to provide a special data package for Independence Day.
This package will greatly improve internet access for people.
Sam George, a Member of Parliament, announced on Twitter that President John Dramani Mahama directed this initiative.
It’s part of a push to make the internet more accessible to everyone.
The telecom companies involved are MTN Ghana, Telecel Ghana, and AT Ghana. They have agreed to offer a GHS10 data bundle that gives users 6GB of data.
This is a significant increase compared to the usual 1GB or the 3GB typically available during holidays at the same price.
“This highlights our commitment as a government to build the enablers for a truly digitalised Ghana that offers the vast opportunity of the interconnected world to Ghanaians right in the comfort of their homes,” Sam George stated.
