Experienced Ghanaian artist Mzbel has teamed up with Icetee Records to officially introduce and sign their newest musician, Kweku Shai, in a traditional oath-taking event that included schnapps and eggs.
The culturally themed event featured Mzbel and record label executives dressed in traditional Ga clothing, pledging to uphold the contract’s conditions.
The incorporation of schnapps and eggs, important symbols in Ghanaian traditions, lent a cultural significance to the pact.
Commenting on the significance of the ritual, Mzbel highlighted the importance of trust and loyalty in the music industry, traits she feels are declining in today’s era.
Mzbel has shared her dissatisfaction with artists she backed, who then left her behind once they became successful.
She observed that the conventional oath acts as a strategic protection to strengthen shared responsibility and commitment from both sides.
We are swearing an oath so the gods bear witness that we will all fulfil our part of the agreement. The money we invest should be matched with the same energy, creativity, and dedication in order to build the brand“, she stated
