Ghanaian hiplife artist Mzbel has addressed the fact that she hasn’t received any awards despite two decades in the music industry.
Mzbel, who rose to fame in 2004 with her debut album ‘Awoso Me’, became the top female artist at the height of her career.
She was quite well-known in various other African nations such as Nigeria, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, and more.
Nevertheless, although she acknowledges receiving flowers from those nations, she asserts that her own country, Ghana, has not honored her with any award.
Speaking to Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, she said: “I have been in the industry for 20 years; I’ve never received any award.
She expressed this when discussing what she would change if she were just beginning her music career.
She stated that since she didn’t adequately prepare for a music career, she approached things haphazardly, which, in turn, impacted her.
“I am not blaming anybody. I think it is the branding.
If I were starting music today, I would put more effort in my branding. The branding wasn’t put together well. I was just put out like that, no proper branding. I would go on radio and say anything, put on any outfit, go where I am not supposed to,” she said.
