A Ghanaian entertainment expert has told Shatta Wale he should not compare himself to international stars like Davido and Diamond Platnumz.
The expert described Shatta Wale as a “local champion,” which means he is very popular in Ghana but not widely recognized outside the country.
This advice came after Shatta Wale reportedly did not attend Richard Nii Armah Quaye’s birthday party because he asked for a large payment—between $500,000 and $600,000—similar to what Davido and Diamond Platnumz receive.
In contrast, other famous Ghanaian artists like Sarkodie and Stonebwoy were paid around $200,000 for similar appearances.
The expert pointed out that Shatta Wale’s popularity outside of Ghana does not match that of Davido, Burna Boy, or Wizkid.
The suggestion is that until Shatta Wale becomes better known internationally, he should not expect to earn the same fees as these global stars.
