DUE PROCESSES WERE FOLLOWED FOR RECRUITMENTS; BE PATIENT AND REVIEW DOCUMENTS – Obour To Sam George

Bice Osei Kuffour, also known as Obour, who used to be the Managing Director of Ghana Post Company Limited, has asked Sam George, the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, to think carefully before firing workers at Ghana Post.

On March 25, 2025, Sam George decided to let go of more than one hundred workers from Ghana Post. He said the reason for this was that these employees were hired after the December 7, 2024 elections, which raised concerns.

However, Obour believes that everything was done properly during the hiring process. He points out that while he was Managing Director, no new hires were made after December 7.

In a talk on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show on March 26, Obour explained that the final letters for hiring new staff were given out on December 9, 2024. By then, the necessary medical checks and interviews had already been finished in November 2024.

“I am very sure if he exercises patience and look through the recruitment because if you say you are using the date of appointment letter in December and I think that for the appointment letters, the last one came in on December 9.

‘So if because of the appointment letter you think that right after election and the person was employed, (it’s not true)… Those people had already done medicals in November and Ghana Post had distributed letters that they had been offered employment.

“So if he exercises a bit of patient, he will realize that these are not recruitments made after December 7 elections, no,” he clarified.

He is confident that records at Ghana Post will show that the hiring process was done correctly and followed all the rules.

“If he requests for the document, their interview reports are there for everybody who was recruited. If you don’t do these things, you cannot be recruited at Ghana Post…if you don’t do these things your recruitment at Ghana Post will not be successful…the due processes were followed,” he added.
